Escape to seclusion at North Yarrows Cottage; our early-18th century croft house set on Loch Yarrows, reached by a private drive and surrounded by sheep-filled fields.

From the front door of the cottage, enjoy views of standing stones, a broch, cairns and hill forts and a crannog in the Loch – all part of the rolling Yarrows landscape which has the largest concentration of Neolithic remains in Europe.

Equipped with two bedrooms sleeping up to four people (one double and one twin), a modern equipped kitchen, woodburning stove, and Starlink internet, our converted cottage offers amazing views across Yarrows Loch, and outdoor amenities including a bench and BBQ so guests can enjoy lazy evenings under our big skies.

The cottage is a true haven for peaceful nature activities – look out for ospreys flying over Yarrows Loch as you cast off for brown trout, or from the comfort of cosy sitting room,  enjoy one of our books or look out over the loch across the adjacent hills. Use of a boat on Yarrows Loch is included in the rate, and bank fishing is available at four other lochs on the estate.  There is a dog kennel and falconry mews adjacent. 

Thrumster is an excellent base for exploring the activities and attractions of Caithness, being a short drive from the amenities of Wick (10 minutes), Thurso (30 minutes) and John O’Groats (35 minutes). Thrumster Estate is part of the Flow Country – recently recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

All bed linens, towels, heating/electricity charges and firewood are included in your stay at North Yarrows Cottage. This property welcomes dogs.  A washing machine and tumble dryer is available.
